On 02/12/11, I signed an agent contract with CG Real Estate, but I really signed a contract to work with and learn from Chris Grant.  Because I am a coach and teacher, the philosophy of CG Real Estate works for me in both concept and application:  Committed to the achievement of your real estate Goals.  However, it has been the teaching, coaching, and mentoring of Christopher Grant that has been instrumental in my learning the real estate business — and in learning to conduct this business with integrity and intelligence.

In my “freshman” year as an agent, I have been mentored through the following transactions:  Buyer agency, listing agency for a mobile home, dual agency, listing agency for a lease, leasing agency for a lease, short sale, listing agency for a house; in sum, the gamut of the real estate business.  My broker has taught me while respecting my space as an adult learner.  He has demonstrated in word and deed the ways I should conduct myself and how to proceed with my transactions.

We all know how intrumental a good teacher is in our development as a person and adult.  This is true even for the adult learner engaging in a second career.  Now, a quarter of the way into my “sophomore” year, I still need the help of my broker, my advisor, and my mentor Chris Grant.  I know this teacher will treat me with respect while gently prodding me in the direction of the right way to conduct myself in the real estate business.

Sometimes we neglect our old friends. Willimantic has seen tremendous business growth early in 2012: A cupcake store, a used record shop, a blues club and restaurant, an Irish themed restaurant and pub — these are some of the newest attractions in Willimantic.

Willimantic, one of the vibrant towns in eastern Connecticut, is also home to one of the very few brew pubs in Connecticut. A recently inaugurated brew trail shows fewer than ten, most in the central and western part of the state. However, Willimantic’s Main Street Café, also working under the name of Willimantic Brewing Company, is one of the best of these few brew pubs. It has been doing business for over ten years in various incarnations, but calls as its home Willimantic’s historic post office.
